We meticulously plan various aspects of our lives. From the moment we learn how, we strategize our careers. We engage financial planners and advisors, prepare to purchase homes, and organize vacations. Some even schedule cosmetic enhancements. Most of us also plan for retirement and beyond.
However, for the most significant event of our lives, we often fail to plan: our death. Many of us avoid considering it altogether. We tend to steer clear of the topic, a behavior identified by research as death phobia, a mindset that leaves us unprepared and scrambling to make decisions. As every first responder knows, it is crucial to be prepared for emergencies.
Why do we leave our dying and death to chance, to experts, or to last-minute, panicked decisions when we have a lifetime to thoughtfully prepare for this unique, once-in-a-lifetime event?
I am a trained end-of-life specialist, spiritual care provider, theologian, and ethicist, glad to share my knowledge and experience with you as you begin to plan your end of life thoughtfully, deliberately, and earnestly. We can meet for an overview of important documents, to discuss your plans and ideas, or simply to talk about your greatest fears or hesitations regarding dying and death.
This website service and blog is purely informational to support your own planing of a peaceful death.
The guiding philosophy for this work is the philosophy and training of INELDA.ORG .
I welcome the opportunity to hear from you and support you in planning your own thoughtful end-of-life journey.
Please be kind to yourself and take care of each other,
Sylvia Klauser, PhD
